One of my roommates just alerted me to this story, and my first reaction is “Really? You’re serious? I guess I have to believe you since it isn’t anywhere close to April 1st.” But seriously, this cheapens the prize. You may think that Henry Kissinger’s prize or Al Gore’s prize were mistakes, but at least both men had definite accomplishments the Nobel committee could point to. If they had waited a couple years, until Obama had, say negotiated some important agreement, I would be okay with it, even if I personally wasn’t that impressed. But this is just ridiculous.
