Crick and Koch

Francis Crick is well known for being the non-misogynistic, non-racist member of the team that discovered DNA, but he’s also known for pioneering work on the neural correlates of consciousness, done along with Christopher Koch. Well, last week for my biology of mind class I wrote up a post on their foundational paper on this subject. It’s interesting, if initially odd-sounding, stuff. I’ve also commented on posts on nature vs. nurture in crime and Paul Churchland’s eliminative materialism.

As an aside, Boing Boing recently had an interesting piece on synesthesia research.
